Diamond care

Dust, pollution and daily wear all conspire to cloud the brilliance of a gemstone and dull the surface of precious metal. We suggest that your piece of jewelry receive periodic professional maintenance. Our trained artisans will check that the setting is adequately securing your stones and give your jewelry piece a thorough cleaning. Between professional cleanings, we recommend the occasional use of some nonabrasive cleaner without lemon acid. Jewelry with stones other than diamonds may need other care.

Determining a budget when buying engagement ring

An engagement ring is an important and lifelong purchase. Budgets vary greatly. Our sales professional will work within your budget.

Gold

Pure gold is a soft metal, so almost all gold jewelry is made of gold alloy in order to increase durability. A lower karat gold means less gold in proportion to alloy, but it also means the gold is stronger than a higher gold karat. The highest karat gold is 24, which is completely pure and also the softest.

14 karat gold is 58,5 % of pure gold and rest is alloy (silver, copper, etc.)

18 karat gold is 75,0 % of pure gold and rest is alloy (silver, copper, etc.)

20 karat gold is 83,3 % of pure gold and rest is alloy (silver, copper, etc.)

22 karat gold is 91,6 % of pure gold and rest is alloy (silver, copper, etc.)

24 karat gold is a pure gold

Storing silver jewelry

Silver jewelry should be kept in a completely dry place. Also, make sure to keep it away from excessive exposure to air. The best way to preserve it is to keep each piece in a separate flannel pouch. Try to avoid your jewelry getting into contact with perfumes, creams and other chemicals that could potentially tint it. In certain cases (such as inflammatory processes in the body, the use of certain drugs, etc.), there may come to a change in the chemical composition of sweat, which may affect the patination of silver jewelry. In this case, it is necessary to clean the jewelry thoroughly.

Cleaning silver jewelry

Silver is a precious metal and may require cleaning from time to time. Using a small amount of silver jewelry cleaner on a soft cloth, gently rub the silver several times. Then rinse the silver thoroughly in warm water and carefully dry. This will remove the tarnish and dullness, keeping your sterling silver like new. Please note: chlorine and bleach accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided.
